Afraid Of Valentine's Day

I know it has been Valentine's day, but it made me laugh when I read the news about the fear of Valentine's Day in Saudi Arabia:
The shopowners, especially giftshops and florists received an official letter with the warning of the consequences of selling anything red or with cupids or hearts on Valentine's Day

Even red ribbon, red wrapping paper is banned on that day.

The ministry cited a fatwa that describes it as "a Christian, pagan holiday that Muslims are not permitted to celebrate, or even acknowledge."

Geert Wilders' Party Second Biggest In Latest Polls

The row over the banning of anti-immigration MP Geert Wilders from entering Britain last week has not boosted the popularity of his PVV party greatly, according to the latest online poll by Maurice de Hond.

The populist PVV would win 25 seats (!) in the 150-seat parliament if an election was held now, just two more than a week ago. The party currently has nine MP's

The two extra seats come from the main government partners, the Christian Democrats (CDA) and Labour, who both lost one each in the latest opinion poll. This makes the PVV the second biggest party after the CDA.

Swedish Skier Beaten In Gulmarg On Holy Words

Protests erupted in Gulmarg today with irate local groups beating up a foreign skier after his sledge was found to be inscribed with holy verses.

Reports said that people spotted the kalima-e-tayyaba, or the basic creed of Islam, inscribed over the bottom of the ski sledge of one Hans Patrick, a skier who had come all the way from Sweden to enjoy the slopes of Gulmarg.

Locals in Tangmarg and Gulmarg erupted in protest, and some groups pounced on the tourist, beating him up.

But the foreigner was rescued by the police who took him under their custody.

The skier, who had been staying in a private hut for the past 10 days, was a part of a group brought here by the Israeli travel agency, EDOO, which has been operating Gulmarg tours for the past several years.

The locals also staged protest against the police for its failure to register a case on the tourist.

Meanwhile, an official spokesman here said that the sticker carrying the holy words had been given to the tourist by his wife, who is a Qatari Muslim, for his protection, but he had unknowingly used it incorrectly.

"Kashmiris overwhelmingly welcome the arrival of foreign tourists in Kashmir and such incidents are almost unheard of but in this incident ignorance had led to offending local sensibilities", said Babar Khan of Lake City Tours and Travels.

Dutch MP Wilders Refused Entry To The UK

"A threat to public order"

Dutch Right-wing politician and controversial anti-Islam campaigner Geert Wilders has been refused entry to the United Kingdom despite being invited to visit by a member of the House of Lords, the British parliament's upper chamber.

Mr Wilders, who was due to go to London this Thursday, received a letter today, 10 February, from the British ambassador to the Netherlands telling him that he was not welcome, reportedly because his visit would constitute a threat to public order.

Mr Wilders responded to the decision in fighting mood, telling Dutch media that he still intended to travel to London:

"I'll see what happens at the border. Let them put me in handcuffs."

Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen's response was also firm. He contacted his UK counterpart, David Miliband, by telephone and voiced his dissatisfaction that a member of the Dutch parliament - Geert Wilders is in fact also the leader of a political grouping, The Freedom Party - has been prohibited from entering a fellow European Union member state.

Geert Wilders, perhaps best known outside the Netherlands for having made the video Fitna, in which the religion Islam and its holy book the Qur'an are Islam attacked as providing a basis for terrorist attacks and for the undermining of western democracy and values, had been invited to London for a showing of this film to members of the British parliament.

The invitation to do so was extended to the controversial Dutch politician by a member of the unelected House of Lords.
Mr Verhagen commented regarding the showing of Fitna in the British parliament that this was a matter for the House of Lords to decide on, but added: "The fact that a Dutch parliamentarian is refused entry to another EU country is highly regrettable."

Geert Wilders was initially to have shown his video to the British parliament in January, but those plans were cancelled following fierce protests from the UK's Muslim community.

(Again the leader of one of the biggest parties of the Netherlands has to be silence, like the voters and members of this party who indirectly are being disadvantaged with this mistreat.
And as always: the people with the biggest mouths are getting it their way again.)

Australian Wildfires Could Fuel "Forest Jihad" Terrorists, Experts Say.

Firefighters and homeowners aren't the only ones keenly watching Australia's massive wildfires, responsible for killing at least 173 people in the southern part of the continent.
Terrorism experts suspect Muslim extremists are watching closely, too - and taking note of the devastation.

While Australian authorities have revealed no evidence linking the wildfires to extremists, terrorism experts say the large death toll, the huge swath of destruction and the massive financial blow to the country are proving to Islamic terrorists that arson can be a highly effective - and simple - tool of holy war.
In November, an extremist Web site called on Muslims to launch a "forest jihad" in Australia, Europe, Russia and the United States. The posting, which quoted imprisoned al-Qaeda terrorist Mustafa Setmariam Nasar, said setting forest fires was legal under "eye-for-an-eye" Islamic law.
"Scholars have justified chopping down and burning the infidels' forests when they do the same to our lands," the posting read.

The author of the posting indicated that Nasar - also known as Abu Musab al-Suri - was urging terrorists to use sulfuric acid or gasoline to start the fires.

"Forest fires track well with the latest discussion trends seen in the al-Qaeda forums - easy to do, big impact, low security risk, high media coverage," said al-Qaeda expert Jarret Brachman.
"We've seen these kinds of appeals for action, be it setting fire to forests in Australia, to creating oil slicks on mountain roads in Europe, to poisoning water supplies and driving buses off bridges in the United States.
The fact is that the al-Qaeda ideology is starting to branch out to more of an 'anyone, anywhere, anytime, anyhow' approach."
Brachman, author of "Global Jihadism: Theory and Practise," said: "Forest jihad fits well in the growing interest among terrorists to establish "al-Qaeda armies of one."

"Could militants do this? Yes," said Steve Emerson, executive director of The Investigative Project on Terrorism. "It wouldn't be difficult, in the same way that terrorists could poison stored food supplies."
Perhaps more troubling, Emerson said, is that there is very little authorities can do to prevent terrorists from setting deadly wildfires.
"It would be absolutely impossible to protect against," he said. "Airport parameters are hard enough to protect. Imagine trying to protect something 100,000 times as big."

Neil Livingstone, chairman and CEO of Executive Action LLC, an international consulting firm, said terrorists could claim responsibility for the Australian inferno even if they had nothing to do with it. "That may be something that they try to do," Livingstone told "Terrorists may well try to pile on, if you will, and say this is their moving hand and that they have unseen agents that are responsible for this. But you can bet that would produce a hell of a backlash against the Muslim population in Australia."

"If extremists did have had a hand in the wildfires," Emersons said, "it would be very disturbing. It would indicate a new area of jihadist attacks, that is, attacking natural resources. And given the devastation of these fires, it certainly could instill new terror ideas in other areas like the food supply chain or in the evironmental realm.
Nonetheless, the majority of terrorists are likely seeking ways to create the most destruction with the least amount of effort. A wildfire doesn't yield 'as much fruit' as an inner-city bombing," he said.

But Brachman said the "al-Qaeda armies of one" approach has several benefits for terrorists, including more overall acts of violence and additional opportunities to become involved in new geographical areas. It also means less operational control for al-Qaeda's senior commanders, he said.
"We're definitely going to see more of calls for these kinds of operations in the future," he said.
"The question that American security professionals and first responders will have to wrestle with is whether anyone will be answering these calls."

Birmingham is home to al-Qaeda linked terror suspects

Abd'rabbah Ghuma, 51, Abdulbaqi Mohammed Khaled, 51 and Mohammed Benhammedi, 42, appear on a United Nation's list of al-Qaeda and Taliban associates.

Khaled and Benhammedi are accused of being key terror financiers, while Ghuma is accused of being involved in transferring cash and travel documents to Middle East terror cells.

Last night, a spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said the force could not comment on ongoing investigations.

"We work closely with a range of national and international agencies including Interpol," she said.

"However, we cannot discuss individuals that may or may not be subject of an ongoing investigation or operation."

An Interpol spokeswoman urged anyone with information regarding the wherabouts of Khaled, Benhammedi or Ghuma to contact them immediately.

Police Adopt Uniform Hijab

This is not a joke...

Police in Leicester (UK) have opened the door to female Muslim recruits by incorporating the hijab into the uniform.

The force has become the latest to approve a design for a headscarf suitable for officers on patrol.

A small number of forces nationwide have taken a similar step, including Thames Valley and the Metropolitan police.

Saudi Arabia Arrests Christian Blogger

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have detained a 28-year-old blogger, Hamoud Bin Saleh, for publicly writing about his conversion from Islam to Christianity on his website.

He was arrested for "his opinions and announcement at his blog that he converted from Islam to Christianity", according to a report by the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI).

The Saudi officials have now blocked Bin Saleh's blog, "Masihi Saudi", at

Bin Saleh's previous release from prison in November of 2009 coincided with the Saudi-initiated interfaith dialogue, held at the United Nations in New York, suggesting that his release came only because his arrest might have "tarnished its image" and "exposed the Saudi government's false allegations."

Immediately following the conference, the report indicated that Saudi officials chose to arrest Bin Saleh "because the entire world is busy following up on the aggression on Gaza, and the Saudi authorities may seize the chance to make an example with nobody watching."

Bin Saleh's case is especially urgent in that we know that this is not the first time that Saudi converts from Islam to Christianity have suffered terrible mistreatment:

In August of 2008, a female convert from Islam to Christianity was burned to death by her father. Her father was a member of the mutaween (Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice), an arm of the government that enforces religious purity and is the government's face of persecution to Christians in Saudi Arabia. She had also disclosed her faith on a website.

Please call the Saudi Arabian embassy in your country and ask the officials at the embassies to release him from prison.

Advertisement Muslim Dating Site

I had to put this advertisement in my blog.
On almost every website this advertisement shows up.

You must have noticed it also, it's hard to ignore, especially for an Islamophobe like me.

Out of curiosity I googled it and it seems to be a very popular"matrimonials service and marriage site for Muslim singles seeking partners for dating"

Reason for posting this it is probably the Muslim babyboom in Britain where I wrote about this day:

Or maybe this advertisement is the reason for the Muslim babyboom in Britain??

Just wondering...

Muslim's Population Grown By More Than 500,000 To 2.4 Million In Four Years

Britain's Muslim population has reached 2.4 million in just four years time, according to official research collated for The Times.

The population multiplied 10 times faster than the rest of society; more than 500, 000 in four years. In the same period the number of Christians in the country fell by more than 2 million.

Experts said that the increase was attributable to immigration, a higher birthrate and conversions to Islam during the period of 2004-2008.
Professor Coleman said that Muslims would naturally reap collective benefits from the increase in population. "In the growth of any population...its voice is regarded as being stronger in terms of formulating policy, not least because we live in a democracy where most people in most religious groups and most racial groups have votes. That necessarily means their opinions have to be taken and attention to be paid to them."

Muhammad Abdul Bari, general secretary of the Muslim Council of Britain, predicted that the number of mosques in Britain would multiply from the present 1,600 in line with the rising Islamic population. He said the greater platform that Muslims would command in the future should not be perceived as a threat to the rest of society.
"We each have our own set of beliefs. This should really be a source of celebration rather than fear as long as we all clearly understand that we must abide by the laws of this country regardless of the faith we belong to," he said.

(But they don't "celebrate" other beliefs in Islamic countries)

Ticking Bomb: Muslims in French Prisons, Blacks in US Jails.

While in the United States African Americans tend to be disproportional in the prisons, in France it is the Muslims. Between 60 to 70 percent of all prisoners in France are Muslim.

Researchers, sociologists and Muslim leaders came with the information, the total Muslim population of France is 12%.

Brookings Institute underlined the seriousness of the French problem to the welfare of the country in relationship to some of its youth, a new generation that is not well integrated.

90% of the French Muslims condemned the attacks on the World Trade Towers and 70% supported France's involvement in an eventual military response. That shows that there is a pricipal core of Muslims against extremism but a serious concern about the growing numbers of disaffected youth ending up in prison and the evental consequences of it to their families and to the community, and possibly the world.

*In Britain, 11% of prisoners are Muslim in contrast to 2% of all inhabitants.

*In the Netherlands 20% of adult prisoners and 26% of all juvenile offenders are Muslim in contrast to the 5.5% of all inhabitants.

*In Belgium, Muslims from Morocco and Turkey make up at least 16% of the prison population, compared with 2% of the general populace.

The problem of depression and serious social consequences developing from the high rate of Muslims in prison has been documented for a number of years. In 2005 it was reported that this is a serious issue because the prisons are becoming a breeding ground for terrorists.

Also the prisoners in the UK convert to Islam for "bigger gang protection", see another January 2009-article on this blog:
