I know it has been Valentine's day, but it made me laugh when I read the news about the fear of Valentine's Day in Saudi Arabia:

The shopowners, especially giftshops and florists received an official letter with the warning of the consequences of selling anything red or with cupids or hearts on Valentine's Day

Even red ribbon, red wrapping paper is banned on that day.

The ministry cited a fatwa that describes it as "a Christian, pagan holiday that Muslims are not permitted to celebrate, or even acknowledge."

Swedish Skier Beaten In Gulmarg On Holy Words

Protests erupted in Gulmarg today with irate local groups beating up a foreign skier after his sledge was found to be inscribed with holy verses.

Reports said that people spotted the kalima-e-tayyaba, or the basic creed of Islam, inscribed over the bottom of the ski sledge of one Hans Patrick, a skier who had come all the way from Sweden to enjoy the slopes of Gulmarg.

Locals in Tangmarg and Gulmarg erupted in protest, and some groups pounced on the tourist, beating him up.

But the foreigner was rescued by the police who took him under their custody.

The skier, who had been staying in a private hut for the past 10 days, was a part of a group brought here by the Israeli travel agency, EDOO, which has been operating Gulmarg tours for the past several years.

The locals also staged protest against the police for its failure to register a case on the tourist.

Meanwhile, an official spokesman here said that the sticker carrying the holy words had been given to the tourist by his wife, who is a Qatari Muslim, for his protection, but he had unknowingly used it incorrectly.

"Kashmiris overwhelmingly welcome the arrival of foreign tourists in Kashmir and such incidents are almost unheard of but in this incident ignorance had led to offending local sensibilities", said Babar Khan of Lake City Tours and Travels.

Fury at Simpsons' Muslim Terror Plot

The Simpsons are about to spark an unholy war by accusing their Muslim neighbour of being a terrorist.

The trouble starts after Homer's son Bart befriends a young boy called Bashir.

Halfwit Homer is already worried when bartender pal Moe tells him: "He's probably up to no good like the Middle Eastern guys on '24'."

In a reference to the cult US TV cop show, Moe adds: "Invite him round for dinner and then 'Jack Bauer' him to giving away their true secrets."

So Homer spies Amid unloading sticks of TNT and saying: "I love blowing up buildings."

He hacks into their computer and finds maps of the shopping mall so warns his pals of a terror attack.

But he has to apologise as it turns out Amid works in demolition and has been paid by the town to blow up the old mall.

A spokesman for the Islamic Cultural Centre & The London Central Mosque in London said: "I hope Muslims take no notice of this show."

But Simpsons creator Matt Groening , 54, defended the show, to air on Sky1 on Sunday at 7pm.

He said: "Cartoons deal in stereotypes. We try to be sensitive."

A Sky1 spokesman added: "At the end of the show, all the issues are resolved and Homer realises the error of his ways."

German cops aids Jew-hating Muslim mob, removes flag of Israel from window.

"Today, 10,000 people demonstrated against Israel here in my hometown Duisburg (Germany) and to express their solidarity with Hamas. So, my girlfriend and me put two Israel flags out of the windows of our flat in the 3rd floor. During the demonstration which went through our street the police broke into our flat and removed the flag of Israel. The statement of the police was to de-escalate the situation, because many youth demonstrators were on the brink of breaking into our apartment house. Before this they threw snowballs, knifes and stones against our windows and the complete building. We both were standing on the other side of the street and were shocked by seeing a police officer standing in our bedroom and opening the window to get the flag. The picture illustrate this situation. The police acquiesced in the demands of the mob."

Radio Station Target By Extremists For Playing Cliff Richard

A local radio station's website was hacked into by "extremists" because they played a song by Cliff Richard, the station's owner claims.

Radio Basingstoke was swapped for a message warning "the west" that they should not insult Islam.

Owner of the station Astrid Haigh-Smith told the Daily Mail she believes it was because Cliff Richard is on their playlist.

Haigh-Smith said: "I just thought maybe it was because we had commented that we hoped our troops would be safe over Christmas. We've also played the Cliff Richard version of "Hallelujah", but we would never dream of running down any religions."

The website was hacked into on Monday (Januari 5) and Wednesday (Januari 7) by extremists claiming to work on behalf of Ahmed al-Qahtani, who is suspected to have been involved in the attacks in the US on September 11, 2001

The hackers left a message saying: "Whoever thinks of insulting Islam or Muslims will suffer the same fate. We are the nightmare of western websites in the cyber war."

Haigh-Smith added: "I'm not going to change what songs we play. If we start doing things like that then the terrorists will have won."
